JNTUH Placement Preparation (2026): How Students Actually Get Placed
Updated August 2026 · Always confirm eligibility rules with the specific company's current drive notification
JNTUH is an affiliating university — which means "JNTUH placements" mostly happen at the level of individual colleges, and the gap between the best and weakest T&P cells is enormous. Two students with identical skills can see completely different placement seasons purely based on which affiliated college they sit in.
That has one big implication: your placement outcome should not depend on your college's T&P cell. This guide is the plan for making sure it doesn't.
How placements really work at JNTUH
| Reality | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Placements are college-level | Each affiliated college runs its own drives through its own T&P cell. The university itself does not run a central placement season for affiliated colleges. |
| Mass recruiters dominate | TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, Accenture, Capgemini and similar companies account for the bulk of offers across JNTUH-affiliated colleges — via campus drives, pooled drives and national exams. |
| Eligibility gates are strict | Most recruiters require ~60% (or 6.0 CGPA) throughout academics and no active backlogs at the time of onboarding. Clearing backlogs before your final year matters more than students expect. |
| Exam-schedule collisions are real | Semester exams and placement drives frequently overlap in the Aug–Dec season. Students who prepared early cruise through; students who start prep in the season itself get crushed by the double load. |
| Hyderabad is your advantage | Being in or near the biggest fresher job market in the Telugu states means off-campus drives, walk-ins and pooled drives are physically accessible in a way students in most Indian cities can't match. |
The preparation plan
- Register for every national exam regardless of what your T&P cell brings: TCS NQT, Infosys off-campus, Cognizant GenC, Wipro NTH, Capgemini and Accenture registrations are open to you directly — a weak T&P cell stops mattering the day you treat off-campus as your primary channel.
- Start aptitude prep by third year: the syllabus across all mass-recruiter exams is nearly identical, so one prep cycle covers every company.
- Fix eligibility early: clear backlogs before final year begins and keep your aggregate above 60% — a brilliant coding profile cannot compensate for a failed eligibility screen.
- Join the pooled-drive circuit: nearby colleges regularly host drives open to other JNTUH-affiliated students. Your T&P cell may not forward these — the big fresher Telegram/WhatsApp groups will.
- Build one real project and practise explaining it: for service-company interviews, one well-understood project plus solid CS fundamentals beats five copied ones.
- Practise interviews before your first real one — most JNTUH students' first interview IS their first-ever interview, and it shows. Mock interviews remove that penalty.
Your college doesn't decide your offer. Your interview does.

Does JNTUH conduct central placements for affiliated colleges?
No — placements are run by each affiliated college's own training & placement cell. The university's career activities do not replace college-level drives, which is why off-campus preparation matters so much for JNTUH students.
What percentage do I need for placements as a JNTUH student?
Most mass recruiters ask for roughly 60% (or 6.0 CGPA) in 10th, 12th/diploma and B.Tech, with no active backlogs at joining. A few companies are stricter; very few are more lenient.
Do backlogs ruin my placement chances?
Active backlogs block you from most drives, but cleared backlogs usually don't — companies typically ask for "no active backlogs at the time of onboarding". Clear them at the earliest supplementary exam and be ready to explain them briefly in HR.
Which companies visit JNTUH-affiliated colleges?
The regulars are TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, Accenture, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, HCLTech and a rotating set of mid-size firms — but the exact list varies enormously by college. The same companies are reachable off-campus through their national exams.
Is CRT (campus recruitment training) worth it?
A good CRT program compresses aptitude prep usefully, but it is a supplement, not a plan. Self-paced aptitude practice, real coding practice and mock interviews cover the same ground — free.
