Anurag University Placement Preparation (2026): Your Placement History Belongs to Three Different Institutions
Updated August 2026 · Always confirm eligibility rules with the specific company's current drive notification
Anurag is a private university, established in 2020 under Telangana's private universities legislation, and it did not begin there. The engineering college at its centre opened as CVSR College of Engineering in 2002, affiliated to JNTUH; it became autonomous under JNTUH in 2014; and in 2020 the institution became a university awarding its own degrees. That is three distinct governance eras inside roughly twenty years, and the placement data you will be shown spans all of them.
This matters more than it sounds, and it is the reason this page exists rather than another recital of the Hyderabad playbook. Every guide tells students to study their college's recruiter list. That advice quietly assumes the list describes one continuous institution. Here a figure from 2018 describes a JNTUH-affiliated autonomous college; a figure from 2024 describes a private university. The campus is the same, much of the faculty is the same, and some recruiter relationships carried straight across — but the entity a company is hiring from, and the degree it is screening, changed. A recruiter list that straddles that change cannot be read as one series, and nobody tells students this.
The rest of the page is what follows from it: which data to ask for, how to read a placement report that aggregates five very different schools, what the conversion genuinely changes for a recruiter and what it does not change at all, and the recognition question that worries parents more than students. Two things deliberately not covered here, because they are covered properly elsewhere: the reading-the-numbers discipline for a private university is in our KL University guide, and the cost of sitting on the eastern edge of Hyderabad — which applies to this campus too — is worked through in our SNIST guide rather than repeated.
How placements really work at Anurag
| Reality | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Placement data spans three governance eras | Affiliated college to 2014, autonomous under JNTUH to 2020, private university since. Ask which era a number comes from before you use it to plan, because a recruiter list from the affiliated years describes an institution that no longer exists in that form. |
| Post-2020 data is the only data about your degree | You will graduate with a university degree, not a JNTUH one. Ask the placement cell specifically for seasons since the conversion, branch by branch. Older figures are not dishonest and they are not about you — and they are exactly the figures that tend to survive in marketing material. |
| The conversion changes the entity, not the screen | Recruiter eligibility runs on percentage, CGPA and backlogs, and those do not care what kind of institution awards the degree. What can differ is process: a company working from an approved-college list, or one whose campus team is organised by affiliating university, is looking at a different entry than it was before 2020. That is an administrative difference, not a judgement about you. |
| A university-wide placement report aggregates five schools | Engineering, Management, Agriculture, Medical Sciences and Pharmacy share a campus, a brand and a placement report, and share almost no recruiters. A university-level percentage is therefore an average across degree types with entirely different job markets — which makes it close to meaningless for your planning. Branch-level numbers are the only readable ones. |
| Own degrees means own calendar and own regulations | A private university sets its academic schedule and examination timeline itself rather than waiting on an affiliating university's, which is a real scheduling advantage during the August–December drive season. The mechanics of what that buys you are the same ones our CBIT guide works through for autonomy, so use that page rather than expecting this one to restate them. |
| Recognition is a fair question with a checkable answer | Students and parents do ask whether a state private university's degree is treated the same way, and the honest response is to verify rather than to be reassured: check the university's current standing on the UGC's own published lists, and if a specific employer or a foreign university is your concern, ask that employer or that university directly. Do not accept any page's summary of this, including ours. |
| The eastern-edge location applies here too | The campus sits on the eastern side of Hyderabad, well away from the western IT corridor where most off-campus rounds happen. That is the same geography our SNIST guide analyses in full, and the conclusion transfers: travel-free channels matter disproportionately, and off-campus rounds have to be chosen rather than attended casually. |
The preparation plan
- Ask the placement cell for branch-wise data from the seasons since 2020 specifically, and ask which era any older figure belongs to. That single question separates data about your degree from data about a predecessor institution, and it is a reasonable thing to ask.
- Ignore the university-wide placement percentage entirely. With pharmacy, agriculture, management and engineering inside one number, the aggregate describes no student in particular — get your own branch's offer count and the shape of the distribution instead.
- Check how recruiters have you listed if a drive seems to skip your campus. Occasionally the issue is an outdated entry rather than a decision, and a placement cell can raise that with a recruiter — but only if someone notices, and students are usually the ones who notice first.
- Run the national online exams as your baseline channel. TCS NQT, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro and LTIMindtree processes screen on your marks and your performance, are indifferent to what kind of institution you attend, and require no travel — which matters on this side of the city.
- Use the university calendar deliberately. Setting its own examination timeline is worth something only if you plan the drive season around it in advance, so get the semester dates early and identify which weeks will collide with peak hiring.
- Verify recognition yourself, once, properly, and then stop worrying about it. Check the UGC's published lists directly, and if you are planning to apply abroad or to a specific employer with strict criteria, ask that institution in writing. A clear answer obtained once is worth more than repeated reassurance.
- Treat the alumni network as two networks. Graduates from the CVSR and affiliated years are a large and often overlooked group who went through the same campus, and they are reachable — the shared institution is a real connection even though the name on the certificate differs.

Is Anurag a university or a JNTUH-affiliated college?
A university. Anurag was established in 2020 under Telangana's private universities legislation and awards its own degrees; before that the engineering college was CVSR College of Engineering, affiliated to JNTUH from 2002 and autonomous under JNTUH from 2014. Both facts are true of the same campus at different times, which is why you will find older sources describing it as a JNTUH college and both descriptions circulating among students. For anything current — regulations, calendar, the degree you will receive — the university is the answer; for reading placement history, the distinction is the whole subject of this page.
Does the conversion to a private university affect my placements?
Not in the way students worry about, and in one way worth knowing. Recruiter eligibility runs on percentage, CGPA and active backlogs, and none of those screens care what kind of institution awards your degree — an online test scores you identically either way. What can differ is administrative: a company that works from an approved-college list, or whose campus team is organised by affiliating university, sees a different entry than it did before 2020, and occasionally that shows up as a drive that used to come and did not. If you notice that pattern, tell your placement cell rather than assuming it is a judgement, because an outdated listing is a fixable thing.
Which placement numbers should I actually trust?
Branch-wise numbers from seasons after 2020, and be specific when you ask. Two things distort the figures otherwise. Older seasons describe an institution under different governance, and those numbers survive a long time in brochures. And the university-wide percentage averages engineering with pharmacy, agriculture, management and medical sciences — degree types whose recruiters barely overlap — so it describes no actual student's prospects. Ask for your branch, ask for the last two or three post-conversion seasons, and ask what the middle of the distribution looked like rather than the top.
Is a state private university degree recognised the same way?
Degrees from universities established under a state private universities act are ordinarily recognised, and the correct move is still to verify rather than to take anyone's word — including this page's. Check the university's current standing on the UGC's own published lists, which is public and takes a few minutes. If your concern is specific — a government recruitment rule, a particular employer's criteria, or admission to a foreign university — ask that body directly and get the answer in writing, because their criteria are theirs to state. This is a fair question that deserves a checkable answer rather than reassurance.
Why does the university-wide placement percentage look different from what students report?
Because it is a different measurement. A university report covering five schools averages together degree types with entirely separate job markets, and the denominators used — whether it counts students who registered for placements, or all students, or only those eligible — change the figure substantially without anyone being dishonest. This is not specific to Anurag; it is what happens whenever a multi-school institution publishes one number. The fix is the same everywhere: ask for your branch, your year, and the count of offers rather than a percentage.
What CGPA and backlog rules apply here?
The standard recruiter screens: broadly 60% or a 6.0 CGPA across 10th, 12th or diploma and your degree, with no active backlogs at onboarding. University status does not soften these, because they belong to the recruiter rather than to your institution. What the university does control is when supplementary examinations fall, which decides how early a backlog can actually be cleared — get those dates from your own department and clear anything outstanding before final year, since eligibility screening is automated and does not consider circumstances.
Is placement season open for the 2027 batch at Anurag?
Drives and eligibility are set per recruiter and per season, so confirm anything date-shaped with your own placement cell rather than with a friend at an affiliated college whose calendar is set elsewhere. What is worth doing now, in your pre-final year: get branch-wise placement data from the post-2020 seasons, verify the recognition question once and put it behind you, start one aptitude cycle covering all the national exams, and map which of your semester dates collide with the August–December drive season. All four are considerably harder to arrange once the season has started.
The exams to register for
- TCS NQT, Infosys, Cognizant GenC, Wipro NTH — open to every student, no T&P cell needed.
- Aptitude preparation plan — one prep cycle covers all of them.
- Fresher jobs in Hyderabad — the market most of these drives feed.
